How Does Emotional Intelligence Help Leaders?

Which leader can be more successful in business? The one who loses control over emotion when under stress, or the one who keeps calm and manages to handle the situation? Yes, the one with high Emotional Intelligence. It is an ability to manage your own emotions and to understand the impact on others.

But how can Emotional Intelligence be helpful for a leader? According to Daniel Goleman, an American Psychologist, there are five elements. 

Firstly, it increases your Self-awareness. Self-awareness will let you know your feelings, understand your weakness and strengths, and how your activity can affect others around you.


Secondly, Self-regulation, which means you're under control. If you are regulated effectively, you can't attack others verbally, take decisions emotionally.


Thirdly, Self-motivation. A self-motivated person knows to accomplish goals and work efficiently.


Fourthly, Social-awareness. It allows you to organize teams and manage team works. 


Lastly, Social-skills. It improves your communication skill and lets you manage conflicts.
